My Grade: 5/5 stars
Excellent mafia-cop thriller made in Hong Kong and set in Hong Kong that was released in the year 2002. The only significant drawback is that the movie keeps Hong Kong action to a minimum, but you will still be well entertained with lots of suspenseful scenes, an unpredictable story, great acting, stylistic set design and stylish costumes, and good character development. Best of all, because the vast majority of China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, has not been infected with liberal ideology, this film does not have trashy liberal themes.
There is small problem with this foreign film. Not surprisingly, it is the dubbing and subtitles. The English dubbing and subtitles does not accurately translate the script. However, you will still be able to understand the film’s story.
During the 2002 Hong Kong Film Awards, Infernal Affairs won the Best Film Award, beating Jet Li’s Hero. The film also won many other awards during the event. The film has also won many awards by other institutions around the world!
The film has done well in Hong Kong that two more movies were made, aptly made Infernal Affairs 2 (2003) and Infernal Affairs 3 (2003). I have not these two movies, but I heard they were good, but not as good as the first one.
Read below to check out one of my criticisms against the liberal entertainment industry in America:
There was a limited release of this move in the United States in the year 2004 and it got outstanding reviews by critics (see www.RottenTomatoes.com). The revenue from this limited release also surpassed all sales records for limited released foreign films. Instead of giving this movie a widespread release, Hollywood decided to remake this movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon. I believe the remake is going to be named, The Departed and is set to be released in late 2006.
I am guessing liberal Hollywood does not the like the idea of an excellent Chinese film that does not involve Chinese guys in stereotypical kung-fu action or Chinese women in stereotypical roles as sex dolls. This is why capitalistic competition is good. If liberal Hollywood had competitors, then people would not have to put up with the trash liberal Hollywood continuously tries to cram into their heads.
Chinese Americans who have unknowingly learned stupid liberal ideology from the liberal mainstream media or from formal education might claim that Hollywood or the American entertainment industry is racist for doing this. Let me enlighten you, my fellow Chinese Americans, on why racism is overrated and why you should not jump to such stupid conclusions.
The American entertainment industry is like any industry – it wants as much wealth and power as possible. It will try to only cast its own employees in its movies to ensure that they have complete control over the entertainment industry and to ensure that they maximize their profits. Furthermore, the American entertainment industry has a liberal culture, so it strongly prefers working with liberals and promoting liberal themes. Hong Kong’s and China’s movie industry should learn from Hollywood and do the same thing – redo Hollywood movies with Chinese employees and pro-Chinese themes. Capitalism is good, but liberals will never admit to this fact because they are hypocrites and idiots.
So, why does Hollywood create martial arts movies with Chinese guys, cast Chinese people as villains, make Chinese people the butt of jokes, and display Chinese women as sex objects? Because that is what sells in America and that is what boosts Hollywood profits. When Hollywood tried to cast white and black guys in martial arts movies from the 1970s to the late 1990s, these movies did not do well. Even the white community and the black community did not like these martial arts movies.
On the other hand, martial movies with Chinese guys and other Asian guys, have been much more successful in all types of communities. Thus, Hollywood has finally accepted the fact that they could only make a little money with non-Asian guys in martial arts movies, but a good amount of money on martial arts movies with Asian guys. However, Hollywood does not want to lose anymore money and power to Asian actors and to the Asian entertainment industry, so it will focus on giving all the other roles and jobs, especially the good positions, to Hollywood employees.
Furthermore, if Hollywood wants to make lots of money, it needs to sell movies that appeal to large audiences. Since there are only a few Chinese Americans, Chinese Americans have little buying power and influence. On the other hand, there are a significant number of African Americans and a majority white American population. Thus, Hollywood has good reasons to make movies geared to these two ethnic groups, but not to the Chinese American community.
One last reason Hollywood does not want to get involved with the Chinese film industry and Chinese audiences is because Hollywood, by nature, has a liberal culture. In contrast, the Chinese film industry and Chinese culture is much more conservative than liberal. Naturally, a liberal industry such as Hollywood does not like working with conservative Chinese people.
In the same year as the limited US release of Infernal Affairs, liberal Hollywood did not like Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ (2004) and actually wanted to give it a limited release, despite the fact that so many Americans loved it. Fortunately, Mel Gibson used his star-power and wealth to force liberal Hollywood to make a widespread release. The movie had record sales in America and average to good sales in the international market. Despite all this, the movie did not receive any awards from liberal Hollywood.
Liberal Hollywood even had Mel Gibson change at least one scene, which was closely based on The Bible, to not offend many overreacting Jews and their unreasonable and trite accusations of anti-Semitism. I am not even Christian or of any Judeo-Christian faith and I thought the movie was excellent and would have been more historically accurate if Mel Gibson had NOT changed the script.
Furthermore, liberal Hollywood and the liberal mainstream media is also bashing Mel Gibson for being drunk and for insulting Jews during the year 2006, despite the fact that there are far worst things going on in the entertainment industry (e.g., rappers getting involved in shoot-outs and all types of physical assaults, a large minority of Hollywood employees using drugs, the entire industry’s overwhelmingly support for the sexual exploitation of women, humongous income gaps, and professional athletes assaulting innocent people). Liberal whining has gotten so bad that even conservative Americans are carving in to many of their complaints.
So please, people, use your brains when doing anything, such as figuring out which movie to watch. By using your brain, you will learn to stop supporting people, companies, and industries that do not really care about you and only care about getting your money. A second benefit of using your brain, out of the infinite many benefits of using your brain, is that you will be able to more clearly identity the real problem and then be able to create a solution that actually works. If you find yourself blindly following any ideology, especially liberal ideology, then realize that you are not using your brain and that you are probably being scammed by those in power who are using their brains and have hired tens of thousands of people to figure out all types of ways to exploit you.
